In today’s post, we’ll talk about how you can choose trust over fear as you’re moving closer to your desires.
…cause fuck fear, that’s why.
It has nothing over you and your power and your heart.
In this post, we talked about what we’re going to work towards in the remaining weeks of 2019. Because we are worthy, we’re committed, and and we can create anything we desire.
Time is not running out on any of us. We make the rules. We create the experience for ourselves.
But here’s the thing.
It’s not easy.
We all have triggers. Traumas. Fear. Massive overwhelm. Old patterns, thoughts, stories, and beliefs that keep coming up us and holding us back.
And it’s so fucking easy to give into them, slip back into old ways of being and thinking, and tell ourselves we can’t do it. That it’s better to hide and stay small.
We back-pedal on our dreams and desires because the alternative feels too overwhelming.
All these limiting ideas are born out of fear. Therefore they’re not real.
Here’s a quick and easy way to remember the truth:
If a thought feels bad or makes you doubt yourself, it’s a lie.
The truth feels light. The truth comes from love, the Divine, your higher self, whatever you want to believe in.
Truth is not based on the fearful ideas of your fragile human mind.
And you can always choose a new thought. You are allowed to do so.
You can override the fearful ideas and learn to surrender into trust.
What does your fear feel like?
Choosing trust over fear is a process.
There’s a natural ebb and flow between being in alignment, trusting, remembering the truth… And forgetting, giving into the fearful thoughts, losing you way for a moment.
Be mindful of where your fear lives within your body.
How does it feel like?
Does your throat start closing up?
Do you feel pressure or restriction in your heart space, somewhere else in your body?
What kind of behavioral patterns do you see yourself in, once you’re experiencing the fear, overwhelm, and self-doubt? How does it feel in your human experience, when you lose your trust?
Do you lash out to the people around you, get a bit bitchy, pick up a fight?
Do you have weird crying fits and then eat ten donuts to compensate the feelings of fear and being unsafe?
Practice this conscious awareness.
Be mindful of it.
Accept it as it comes, and be determined to choose again.
How to choose TRUST over fear
This is a simple practice that has brought me a lot of comfort and clarity lately.
1. Choose the one thing you’re struggling with most/have the most fear and uncertainty around. (Let’s use the examples: love/money/work.)
2. Get yourself in a safe, comfortable space (physically and emotionally). Look at your shit. Write out all the stories, fears, and thoughts that you have around love/money/work. Rant. Let it all out. Let yourself cry and feel all the emotions that awaken within you as you truly look at what’s going on under the surface. Be angry! Or sad! Or frustrated! Whatever you need to feel, feel it. You are human. It’s okay to feel the things. That’s kind of what you’re here for you, to experience your humanness.
3. Beginners: definitely spend some time uncovering and really working through all these beliefs and ideas. If you’re brand new to this kind of work and want to be supported privately, you can apply for to work with me 1-on-1.
Everyone: go through what you wrote, and choose again. Change your story. Create new beliefs, rules, and stories for yourself.
What would feel GOOD to believe in? How do you want to believe love/money/work shows up in your life, supports you, works in your favor? How can you switch up your old beliefs and create new ones?
4. Once you have created all your affirmations, new beliefs, and empowering stories… Feel free to switch them around or edit them. Stack them together and create your own little prayer or intention around what you’re struggling with.
5. Return to your prayer daily (or whenever you need to). Read it out loud. Write it on your journal. Record yourself speaking these words into existence and listen to it daily in meditation or before bed (this is what I do!).
Lean on your prayer often.
Not as a way to bypass your negative emotions or fears, but to remind yourself of the truth.
To choose TRUST over fear.
To practice surrendering and leaning on the loving forces of the Universe, not your fearful human mind.
